Classic Creamed Leeks is a comforting British side dish featuring tender leeks gently sautéed and simmered in a creamy sauce made with Flora Professional 15%. This dish highlights the natural sweetness of leeks and delivers a silky texture, perfect for pairing with your favorite mains
600g leeks (about 4 large leeks), cleaned and sliced into 1cm rounds
200ml Flora Professional 15% Cooking Cream
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
Prepare the leeks by trimming the roots and dark green tops, leaving the pale green and white parts. Slice into 1cm rounds and rinse thoroughly to remove any grit.
Heat the olive oil in a large, deep frying pan over medium heat.
Add the sliced leeks and a pinch of salt. Gently sauté for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the leeks are very soft and just starting to caramelize, but not browned
Reduce the heat to low. Pour in the Flora Professional 15% and stir to coat the leeks. Simmer gently for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and the leeks are silky and tender.
Season with the remaining salt and the black pepper to taste. Stir well to combine.
Serve hot, spooned into a shallow bowl or plate, as a creamy, luscious side.
